How Do You Stay Motivated During Lockdown?

When is all this going to end?

Wearing a face mask, using hand sanitiser, wearing disposable gloves. No one more than myself and probably the entire staff of the NHS can wait for this all to be over.

I am so looking forward to the days again when I get to pop to my favourite coffee shop and just sit.

The fear of the unknown is delivering stress and a little anxiety throughout or immediate families & communities, the fear of the unknown has become greater than the fear of infection.

Despite these fears being overwhelming, and precautions as serious as ever, every one of us has a choice here.

The choice to transform this fear into positive thoughts and actions, into an empowered mentality instead of becoming overrun by fear. Human resilience cannot be lost.

Now more than ever, as the world slows down for the first time in centuries, you are given the choice to be conscious, to observe and evaluate. Now it is time to raise your thoughts to a higher frequency, this is where you will find the mindfulness to continue unhindered.


 You’ve got two options:

You can allow the irrational thoughts and fears to multiply, believe the world is going to end and sell all your stocks and shares, collect a year’s supply of toilet paper and complain in YouTube comments and tweets about the pandemic.

But in all that you will fail to notice, worrying will not change anything.

Fear will only consume your every thought, you will be left with no dignity, no sanity, you will wear away at your own human essence.

Or, instead of sitting at home worrying every moment, do what you can to make the most of this situation.

The world may never slow down again like this in your lifetime, and weren’t you always complaining about not having enough time to do the things you enjoy?

Worrying does nothing but dampen your immune system and depress you.

Alternatively, you can really make use of this time indoors, to better yourself and grow as a person.

The news is not always there to inform you, you mustn’t forget that they’re making money on spinning stories every second, to make you worry more, to make you go back and check for an update 10 minutes later.

 Turn off the news and work on YOU.

The world is not ending, not even close to it.

In a few weeks, everything will become clear, in a few months, things will start to go back to normal.

How you chose to spend your time will define who you are for the rest of your life.

You could use this time inside to transform your life, to enrich your soul, to bond with those your so scared to lose.

Or you could learn new skills!  

A new language, a new habit or even a hobby you once had to let go because work took over.

I encourage you all to follow your best self-care practices, taking good care of your bodies and homes.

But just as importantly, it is an excellent time to care for your mental health and spiritual wellbeing.

This time where will often be alone with our thoughts is a time to bring out the amazing power within you, to practice gratitude for all you had, and all that you have, to focus on your loved ones, your community and your country.

Napoleon Hill once famously said:


“Every adversity, every failure, every heartache carries with it the seed of an equal or greater benefit.”


A time has dawned upon us like never, plant the seeds of hope that will blossom into a happier more fruitful life when the world regains normality.

When the numbers start to decrease and the world begins to heal, I want you to look at this time and know you made the most of it, know you bettered yourself.

I want you to remember that you chose to prosper, you believed in yourself and the rest of the world.

I hope this situation shows the good in most people & also brings out the best in you.

Every moment is as valuable as the next.

Stay inspired by the beauty that life has offered us.

Believe in yourself, because things will get better.

With great hardship, there is always ease.
